3 siblings in emergency shelter, desperate to find a forever home

Posted: Updated:

They'd like parents to tuck them in at night and read them bedtime stories, but instead three local siblings are living in an emergency children's shelter in a dorm-like setting. Meet Dylan, Gavin and Emma, who are counting on a forever family to give them the happy home they deserve.

Three-year-old Emma is herself a little dynamo, and she keeps her older brothers, seven-year-old Gavin and 11-year-old Dylan, on their toes.

For this trio of siblings, family time where they can joke around and just be kids doesn't happen too often. That's because Dylan, Gavin and Emma are in an emergency shelter right now. Dylan says he can't help but count each long day that passes.

"We've been here 19 days, because every Thursday it's a week," he said.

And Dylan says he talks to his brother sometimes about how upsetting it is.

These siblings aren't asking for much - parents to love them and expose them to the simple things in life that most kids take for granted, such as going to the beach and reading bedtime stories.

But while they wait and hope to find a forever family, these resilient children carry on. Some of the children like football, soccer and watching movies.

Little Emma loves to explore and is always on the move, and her brothers are so good with her.

So for now, they at least have each other to lean on and they are a good team, but what they deserve are parents to complete their family.

News 8 would like to thank the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center for hosting these kids to a day of fun.
