Aztec respect

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A is for Aztecs, B is for basketball. Now let's "see" what Larry Himmel has to say about the team's Sweet 16 success.

From the halls of Montezuma

To the student library.

And all across the mesa

It's a rising big red sea.

There's a feeling all around

The likes we've never seen.

As the mighty, mighty Aztecs

Have joined the Sweet 16.

Their fans are beyond loopy

Kind of like the cast of "Glee."

Recovering from a weekend that

Nearly gave them a coronary.

Alright there all you cynics,

It wasn't flawless basketball.

But it's better to win ugly

Than not to win at all.

They'd never won a game before

In the NCAAs.

Now that they've won two

How about a big hooray?

Fine, call be a homer.

Say my head's stuck up somewhere.

It's not my alma mater

But still I really care.

Some say that San Diego

Is not a great sports town.

But folks cheer like crazy

When a good team comes around.

Jump on board the bandwagon.

For a rollercoaster ride.

San Diego's in the Sweet 16.

Let's show our local pride.

As the Aztecs march to Anaheim

To face their destiny.

Let's get behind them one and all

And root for victory.

Here's to Malcolm Thomas

To DJ and Kwahi.

Then there's White and Tapley

And a bench that's really spry.

Let's cheer for our coach Fisher

Who's made the city proud.

For the crazies in The Show

Who've kept it nice and loud.

They don't give points for style

For procession or finesse

So let's salute the Aztecs

Who epitomize March Madness..

In 2006, the city of San Diego began allowing political campaigns to electronically file their financial reports, giving the public easy access to information on money in city politics. The county of San Diego wasn’t as quick to make the same kind of information available and continues to lag behind the city’s efforts.
