Lady Gaga concert, soccer match call for increased trolley service

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Increased trolley service will be available Tuesday to get fans to and from a pair of major events -- a soccer match and concert, the Metropolitan Transit System announced.

Mexico and Venezuela will play soccer at Qualcomm Stadium and singer Lady Gaga will perform at Viejas Arena at San Diego State University. Both events begin at 8 p.m.

Mexico soccer matches are traditionally well-attended in San Diego, while the Lady Gaga concert is sold-out at the arena, which seats about 12,000 people.

Blue Line trolleys will run from San Ysidro all the way to the stadium so that transfers to the Green Line at the Old Town Transit Center will not be necessary, according to the MTS.

Beginning at 10 p.m., Blue Line trains will run every 15 minutes until 11:15 p.m., the agency reported. Usually, trolley runs are separated by a half-hour at that time of night.

The MTS said two eastbound Green Line trolleys will be available when the concert ends around 11 p.m.
