SAN MARCOS (CNS) - A young man was behind bars Thursday, accused of causing nearly $21,000 in graffiti damage throughout San Marcos, authorities said.

Eric Ricardo Flores was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of three felony counts of vandalism and 72 counts of misdemeanor vandalism, according to San Diego County sheriff's Sgt. Dave Schaller.

The 19-year-old could face more charges for additional graffiti vandalism in the cities of Oceanside and Vista, the sergeant said.

Flores is the fourth man arrested on suspicion of prolific tagging in the North County this month.

On March 23, 19-year-old Alfonso Castro Jr. was arrested at his home in Vista. Castro was originally charged with 77 misdemeanor counts. He pleaded guilty Wednesday to a dozen misdemeanor vandalism charges and was immediately sentenced to 45 days in jail for causing more than $34,000 in graffiti damage in Vista, Oceanside and San Marcos.

Luis Maganda, 18, was arrested March 15 and has already pleaded guilty to graffiti vandalism charges stemming from more than $15,000 damage in San Marcos. Maganda is expected to be sentenced to 180 days in custody at a hearing next month.

On March 8, probationer Oscar Fernandez, 26, was arrested at his workplace in Oceanside. City officials put the total cost of Fernandez' purported offenses at about $38,000. He was booked into jail on suspicion of 21 counts of vandalism.
