CARLSBAD (CNS) - Three more people were in custody Tuesday in connection with the shooting death of a man in Carlsbad earlier this month, police said.
Joseph Verkade, 34, Heather Strauch, 32, and Michael Gault, 30, were arrested at a home in the 2300 block of Ron Way in San Diego's Serra Mesa neighborhood about 4:40 p.m. Monday, according to Carlsbad police Sgt. Mickey Williams.
Evidence from the April 1 slaying of 63-year-old Michael Michel Sahagun was found at the home, Williams said, without elaboration.
Sahagun was found in his detached garage about 1:30 a.m. Friday, with a shotgun blast to the chest.
The next day, police searched a motel room at the Motel 6 on Plaza Drive in Oceanside, and arrested Grant Hunter, Mercedes Yorba and Gary Gomez.
On April 6, Hunter, 23, and Yorba, 19, pleaded not guilty to murder, attempted robbery and second-degree burglary charges, while Gomez pleaded not guilty to being an accessory after the fact.
On Monday, Strauch and Gault were each arrested on suspicion of various murder- and robbery-related charges, Williams said.
