Just can't wait to be king

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - When it comes to the royal wedding, there is no middle ground. Either you're into it big time or you think it's much ado about nothing. Regardless, the whole world will be watching on April 29, when Prince William and Catherine Middleton tie the knot at Westminster Abbey.

There will be more press coverage for this event, than if Charlie Sheen hosted a Tupperware party. And some of the facts surrounding the William-Kate nuptials are truly amazing.

For example, from friends, family and fans around the globe, the couple is expected to receive over 20,000 fondue sets, over 60,000 candle holders and a staggering $1.2 million worth of Target gift cards.

They already have at least a dozen sets of matching towels embroidered with "his highness" and "her highness" and pillowcases that read "his majesty" and "her majesty." In fact, it's been calculated that at the rate of 10 a day, it will take the royal couple until the year 2084 to send out all the thank you notes.

I personally want to wish kate and william, all the joy that love and marriage can bring. I've never been close royalty, myself. Well, I did once interview the late King Stahlman, and there isn't a day goes by that a viewer or a co-worker doesn't tell me I'm a royal pain.

As a matter of fact, in this town, I am considered royalty, because in San Diego "old guys rule".
