Caught On Tape: Black bear rescue stops traffic on Jersey turnpike

Posted: Updated:

HIGHSTOWN, New Jersey (CBS) - A black bear stopped traffic Friday morning on the New Jersey turnpike.

He was on the side of the road in a tree. Rescuers used a tranquilizer gun to sedate him. Then they lowered the 250 pound animal to the ground.

Rescuers managed to get him onto an elevated platform, then high-fived each other and lowered him to the ground.

They pet the bear while loading him into a specially-equipped truck to drive him back to where he belongs, before letting him go.
