San Diego County heats up with record highs over weekend

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Temperatures in San Diego could reach record highs Saturday, and some parts of the county could top 90 degrees.

Saturday's highs are expected to reach 72 degrees in coastal areas but up to 85 inland, according to the National Weather Service. Valleys could see highs of 91, and the mountains might see 85 degrees.

Saturday's Lindbergh Field record high of 87 degrees was set in 1948, according to Weather Underground.

Temperatures should start to cool off Sunday with some clouds in the morning and a high of 71 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Highs will continue to drop, with maximums of 66 expected Monday and Tuesday. The Scripps Institute of Oceanology reports that wave heights about 2-3

feet, but ocean temperatures are a bone-crunching 58 degrees at La Jolla Shores.
