Easter Egg hunts around San Diego

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The Easter Bunny has been busy in San Diego, where thousands of eggs were hidden in advance of more than a dozen hunts planned for today.

More than 1,000 children are expected for a 10 a.m. event at the Salvation Army Kroc Center, where about 10,000 eggs have been hidden. The Easter Bunny will be there, too, along with a "bounce house" and arts and crafts.

City-sponsored egg hunts are scheduled at 9 a.m. at several parks and at recreation centers, including the Carmel Valley and North Clairemont recreation centers, and Torrey Hills Park.

At the Tierrasanta Recreation Center, an egg hunt is set to start at 9:30 a.m.

At 10 a.m., egg hunts are scheduled at the Azalea, Carmel Mountain Ranch, City Heights, Encanto, Kearny Mesa, La Jolla, Martin Luther King, Memorial, Montgomery Waller, North Park, Pacific Beach and Standley recreation centers; along with Morley Field, Penasquitos Creek Park, Ridgewood Park, Rolling Hills Park and South Village Park.

A hunt begins at 10:30 a.m. at Serra Mesa Recreation Center and 11 a.m. at the Linda Vista, Skyline Hills and Southcrest recreation centers.

At noon, hunts begin at the Tecolote Recreation Center and NTC Park at Liberty Station.

In Carlsbad, an event is set for 10 a.m. at Poinsettia Community Park, 6600 Hidden Valley Road. Along with the usual festivities, representatives of a number of summer camps will hold demonstrations.

In Chula Vista, festivities will begin at 10 a.m. at Mt. San Miguel Park, 2335 Paseo Veracruz. Children will need entry tickets, available at Chula Vista Fire Department stations.

The Spring Valley Community Center, 8735 Jamacha Blvd., will have breakfast with the Easter Bunny at 7:30 a.m., with an egg hunt set for 9 a.m. A 7:30 a.m. breakfast is also scheduled for the Fallbrook Community Center, 341 Heald Lane. The egg hunt and games begin at 10:30 a.m.
In Ramona, a 10 a.m. egg hunt is set for Dos Picos County Park, 17953 Dos Picos Park Road.
