Owner of missing service dog is pleading for her return

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Whitney Engler, a 23-year old woman who suffers from general anxiety disorder, needs your help. Her nine-month-old Australian Shepherd named Rosie has been missing since April 16.

Whitney was washing her clothes at a laundromat in Del Mar when she says someone spooked Rosie. The dog darted out onto I-5 Southbound. A good Samaritan rescued her but has not turned the dog in.

Two witnesses contacted Whitney after seeing the missing service dog signs posted around Del Mar. They told her that her dog was still wearing her gentle leader and collar with I.D. Tags when she was rescued. Whitney expected a call soon after from the rescuer but she still has not been contacted.

Whitney has launched a massive social networking campaign in an attempt to find the person who rescued her service dog. She has also placed newspaper ads offering rewards and contacted all of the shelters in San Diego, but none has received Rosie.

Whitney is making a public plea to the person who has rescued Rosie to please return her immediately. She can be reached at (858) 210-1089.
