El Cajon preschool worker arraigned on child porn charge

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - An El Cajon man who was working at a local preschool when he was arrested for allegedly receiving images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct was arraigned Monday on a federal charge of receipt of child pornography.

Corey James Loftin, 22, was taken into custody Friday by agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The criminal complaint alleges that between November 2009 and last month, Loftin knowingly received images of children engaged in lewd conduct.

On several occasions, the defendant was chatting live online with a male in Pennsylvania and receiving images on his computer as the male was sexually molesting children, according to court documents.

At the time of his arrest, Loftin was working at a local preschool and had online babysitting ads on the Internet, according to prosecutors, who say he previously had worked at the Cuyamaca College Child Development Center.

Magistrate Judge Bernard Skomal scheduled a detention hearing for Loftin for Thursday.

Anyone with information relating to the charges against Loftin was urged to call (619) 744-4633 and leave a confidential message, which will be returned by special agents investigating the case.
