Memo: gay marriages will be allowed in Navy chapels

Posted: Updated:

Some big changes may be coming to the military. Under a plan, Navy chaplains will be cleared to perform same-sex marriages in military chapels.

This will begin when the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy is officially lifted and only in states that recognize same-sex marriage.

But, chaplains will have the power to choose to do the service or not, based on their own religious beliefs.

Pentagon officials are expected to sign off on the new rules in a few weeks.
