Rum Cake Lounge: Yum, yum, it's rum!

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Take a seasoned baker like Dina Gonzales and add a culinary expert like Olivier Martinez and you have all the ingredients for classic rum cakes with a French flair, sold only online at the Rum Cake Lounge here in San Diego.

"For 20 years, I've been making rum cake over the holidays," Dina said.

"I was a pastry chef in France for many years. I have five Masters degrees in culinary school," Olivier said.

"We use the freshest and finest ingredients available," Dina said.

"We bake them fresh daily and we vacuum pack them with a state-of-the-art meshing. We are shipping them free nationwide," Olivier said.

But this is not your grandma's rum cake.

"We wanted to bring new flavors, more of a gourmet type rum cake. So we offer six different flavors," Dina said. "We have our Mandarin orange vanilla bean made with French vanilla beans and fresh Mandarin oranges.

Next we have our appletini crème dulce. That's made with fresh tart Granny Smith apples and pecans and it's also drizzled with caramel glaze. Next we have our most popular flavor, which is double chocolate French roast. Dark chocolate ganache swirled in devil's food cake along with undertones of French roast coffee," Dina said.

The Rum Cake Lounge also offers a white chocolate raspberry swirl.

"Which is a white chocolate cake with fresh red raspberries throughout and topped off with macadamia nuts. And lastly is our vanilla Chantilly, which is made with fresh vanilla beans and fresh cream," Dina said.

Most of the alcohol that goes into the recipe burns off, so no matter how much rum cake you eat you won't get drunk. But you will get intoxicated by gourmet delights from the kitchen of the Rum Cake Lounge.
