SAN MARCOS (SD Sheriff) - A teenage boy is in critical condition after being stabbed by a group of males in San Marcos.  Police deputies responded to the incident Friday night around 10:09 p.m., according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department.

19-year-old Giovanni Bazan was stabbed in the chest after being confronted by a group of Hispanic males near 352 Pleasant Way. The suspects fled the scene.

A family member drove Bazan to Tri-City Hospital in Oceanside.

Upon arrival at Tri-City, it was determined Bazan's injuries needed to be treated at a trauma center so he was taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital via Life Flight.

At about 2:50 a.m. Bazan was released from surgery and was listed in critical condition.
