S.D. County gas prices continue to decrease

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County fell Saturday for the 15th consecutive day, decreasing 2 cents to $4.115.

The average price is 10.2 cents less than one week ago and 8.8 cents lower than one month ago, but is still $1.027 higher than a year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price had risen eight consecutive days before the streak of decreases began.

Analysts credit the decreases to the recent decline in the cost of crude oil and prices continued to decline as fear lessened of refinery and supply disruptions from flooding by the Mississippi River.

The price of crude oil has decreased about 17 percent in the past two weeks, said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California, because of the increasing worth of the dollar and less conflict in many oil producing countries.

Barring some unforeseeable circumstance, prices should continue to decline into Memorial Day Weekend, Spring said.
