Sean Michael Breese of La Mesa allegedly grabbed the victim's handbag as she was standing in front of a Panda Express restaurant at Santee Town Center shortly after 10:30 a.m., but was unable to wrest it away from the woman, sheriff's Sgt. Tom Poulin said.
During an ensuing "violent struggle," the victim screamed, prompting the would-be thief to give up and flee empty-handed, according to Poulin.
