SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - America has gone SEAL crazy in the wake of the U.S raid that killed Osama bin Laden. Now a North County man and former SEAL commander is cashing in on SEAL t-shirts, hats, and even the sweat that comes with training those who want to join the elite unit.
If you want to become a Navy SEAL, former Navy SEAL commander Mark Divine can show you the patriotic path one grunt at a time.
"The SEAL experience is extremely intense," Mark said.
He should know -- he has 20 years experience as a SEAL.
"I've don't some really incredible things that most people will read about or watch on TV," he said.
Ever since Navy SEALS killed Osama bin Laden, Divine's business has been booming, both at his Encinitas gym and on his website navySEALs.com.
"Traffic to our website has more than doubled," Mark said.
He also offers one-week, three-week and 50-hour sleep deprivation camps for trainees willing to live on the site.
Max Ledesma knows up to 80 percent of SEAL candidates don't make the cut, so he's here to toughen up. Only elite athletes can enroll in SEALfit training, but a lower level program called Crossfit is open to everyone.
"The SEALfit training is invite-only, but anybody can participate in Crossfit training as a stepping stone for tougher challenges," Mark said.
Just remember there are two rules -- no whining and no quitting. Mark says 80 percent of his customers are everyday people who want just a taste of the warrior spirit.
"Maybe 20 percent of our clients are SEAL candidates. It's for everybody who is willing to work hard and wants to grow as a human being," he said.
The training isn't cheap. It starts at $175 a month, and the three-week camp will cost you $4,900.
