NATIONAL CITY (CBS 8) - Police are trying to determine what caused a driver to crash into a house in National City Friday morning.
It happened around 7:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of Seawind Drive near Euclid Avenue.
National City police say the driver hit the gas instead of the brakes and drove through a fence and into the house. They say it's lucky that no one got hurt.
"It's a situation where we got a car driving into a kitchen, it could be a dangerous situation but in this case all we have is a car into a building," Greg Seward of the National City Police Department said. "As a police department, when we walk away with nobody getting hurt that's the main thing."
A building inspector is on scene to determine if the house is safe for residents. The exact cause of the crash is unknown.
