Dog crawls home on two broken legs after Alabama tornado

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - An incredible story of survival after the April 27th tornadoes in Alabama.  A terrier mix named Mason was hiding in his garage when the storm picked him up and carried him away.

His owners couldn't find him and had nearly given up hope.

They went back home Monday to sift through the debris and found Mason had crawled back with two badly broken legs and was waiting for them on the porch.

"So now Mason has in 2 plates, 17 screws down the road and so far, so good.  Everything is lined up well.  He is stable, so far we're five days post-op, no complications, no problems," Dr. William Lamb of Vulcan Park Animal Care said.

Dr. Lamb offered his services free of charge.  He said mason is doing great, eating, drinking, and wanting to play.
