LA's big summer sleepover

Posted: Updated:

LOS ANGELES (CBS 8) - In the heart of Hollywood, you'll find a soulful experience. Just off the corner of Hollywood and Vine where Ralph Edwards meets Reese Witherspoon on the Walk of Fame, the W Hotel is carving its own legend.

Opened in January 2010, the 305-room hotel is elegant, but not stuffy, innovative, yet inviting. And the W offers a lot of options.

After a morning of sightseeing or shopping or visiting the local attractions, afternoons are perfect for planting yourself by the rooftop pool. You can enjoy food in your private cabana, drink in the cityscape views or just soak up some warm California sun. The perfect place to see or be seen.

Bliss is the W's full-service spa. Here, they turn pampering into an artform and relaxation into a lifestyle, the sweet spot to chill before revving up for the W after dark.

"The evening is very high energy. Can't say crazy, but it's high energy. It's a fun place, it's a place you want to be," W insider Christopher Nelson said.

When it comes to dining, the W has options on the ground floor. There's Dauphine serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as a late-night after-theatre menu. Back up on the roof, Drai's offers skyline dining.

"Even though we have an infusion of fish on our menu, we characterize our menu to be a French steakhouse bistro," Victor Drai said.

While the lights of L.A. twinkle, the food at Drai's shines.Just about the time I'm ready to burst, Drai's is getting set to explode into one of the hottest night spots on the West Coast. Founder Victor Drai knows the formula.

"First we have a great location and we try to make it very, very sexy," Victor said.

The often star-studded scene doesn't start popping until almost midnight and rolls on till the wee hours of the morning. It's well-attended, well-dressed and well past my bedtime.

With its prime location and its primo amenities, when it comes to big summer sleepovers, the W has it all.
