The brother and sister pair you're about to meet are like two peas in a pod. They both like pizza and soccer, and get this, they say they don't fight that often, at least. Meet Richard and Sofia who are missing just one thing - a forever family.
Four Square is one of their favorite games, but when nine-year-old Sofia and her 11-year-old brother Richard don't have enough people to play, they simply amend it for two.
The bond between Richard and Sofia is like no other. Having experienced many challenges and tough times together only one thing has remained constant through it all - they've known they have each other to lean on.
"They're very protective of each other, they stick up for each other, they talk for each other, they know each other really well. They're very close," explained protective services worker, Stephanie Gross. "Out of all of the siblings I have ever met, they are the most supportive of each other. She asks him to do something and Richard will do it for her, like take a toy to her room for her. Instead of complaining, which I've seen happen, another kid will say you do it yourself. He says, ‘oh ok.' They're really sweet together."
But as well as they get along and help each other cope, Richard and Sofia are both yearning for parents to complete their family.
"Both kids have been in big families before and have expressed they want a brother and sister and Richard said he wants an older brother and older sister," continued Gross.
Richard is in the 5th grade, and Sofia is in 3rd and like any child, they need a nurturing environment to help them fulfill their potential.
"They are doing well, but would definitely need a family to know how to navigate school system and know how to advocate for them. They need some help in catching up," Gross noted.
They're happy kids who have adapted well so far to the many changes they've had to endure, but what they deserve is stability and love.
"They're really sweet natured kids, very well mannered and loving, so I think they would do well in just about any home," Gross added.
