"Spring Fling" event connects families with kids in need

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Local families looking to adopt got a unique opportunity Saturday to meet children in need of a loving forever home at a special "Spring Fling" event.

These potential parents got to spend a few hours with the kids at Admiral Baker Park in Mission Gorge.

Among those at Saturday's event were Marie and Ray Girulat, who have already been approved to adopt.

"it was great fun to play with them and interact with them and actually see that they're really truly kids ... Yeah ... And fun to be around. They're just like our neighbors' kids. You know, love to be able to play with them and interact with them and get to know them a little better."

The "Spring Fling" event was sponsored by chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers charity, the "Rivers of Hope Foundation."
