    Attempts to identify a man who apparently killed himself by leaping off a freeway overpass early Wednesday uncovered an apparent murder-suicide that left a woman and her two children dead in a Chula Vista home.

    In Chula Vista, a special fundraiser was held Sunday in memory of a mother and her two children who were murdered at the hands of the woman's estranged boyfriend.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A vigil will be held Tuesday night for the Alvarez family, who were found murdered inside their home in Eastlake.

It will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Corpus Christi Catholic church on Corral Canyon road.

41-year-old Catherine Alvarez, and her two kids, 12-year-old Angelica and 11-year-old Hamid were beaten and choked to death, by Catherine's estranged boyfriend. He then killed himself by jumping off a bridge.

A memorial fund has been created to help pay for funeral arrangements.

The funeral is scheduled for Wednesday.
