LIBERTY, Texas (AP) — Law enforcement descended on a rural Texas farmhouse Tuesday after receiving an anonymous tip that multiple dismembered bodies were buried there, and a sheriff's spokesman said officials were seeking a search warrant for the property.

Liberty County Sheriff's Department spokesman Rex Evans told The Associated Press his office received a tip earlier Tuesday that there were bodies in the home about 70 miles northeast of Houston. Evans told the Houston Chronicle that no bodies had been recovered shortly before 6 p.m.

"We only received information of a possible crime scene here at this location," Evans told the newspaper. "Upon our arrival we determined that there was a need for a search warrant. Once that warrant arrives at the scene we will further our investigation."

Footage shot from a television news helicopter showed 15 vehicles, mostly belonging to law enforcement, parked along a rural road intersection near a farmhouse. The area around the home was heavily wooded.

FBI spokeswoman Kim Barkhausen in Houston said the agency has been asked to assist in an investigation, but declined to discuss details of the anonymous tip or the search.
