Woman drops child from Mission Valley townhouse during home invasion

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Two masked burglars, at least one armed with a gun, looted a Mission Valley townhouse late this afternoon, fleeing after several residents confronted them, police reported.

The home invasion in the 8300 block of Rio San Diego Drive was reported shortly before 5 p.m., San Diego Police Department Officer David Stafford said.

Upon seeing the thieves in the residence, the victims fled, one of them dropping a 5-year-old boy out of a second-floor window into the waiting arms of friends before jumping out herself, a local news source reported. The woman suffered a cut to her leg in the fall, according to the source. No other injuries were immediately reported.

Officers searched the area for the burglars into the early evening.
