LAKESIDE (CNS) - A 63-year-old Lakeside man remained hospitalized Tuesday and under guard following his arrest for allegedly killing his wife before inhaling carbon monoxide in an attempt to kill himself, authorities said.

Timothy Ralph Danielson was arrested on suspicion of murder Monday, according to San Diego County sheriff's homicide Lt. Larry Nesbit.

Deputies went to check on Danielson and his wife at their home in the 10300 block of New Bedford Court about 4:45 a.m. Monday, after receiving a 911 call from his sister-in-law. The caller said that she had received an email from Danielson stating that he had killed his wife and was about to take his own life by inhaling carbon monoxide, sheriff's officials said.

Deputies found the body of Danielson's wife in an upstairs bedroom near her husband, who was in "medical distress," according to Nesbit said. A portable gas-powered generator had been brought into the room and apparently had been running.

Authorities withheld the manner of death in which Danielson's wife was allegedly killed. According to local news reports, she was shot.
