SAN MARCOS (CNS) - An investigation was under way Thursday in San Marcos, where a man was fatally struck by a vehicle underneath a highway overpass, sheriff's authorities said.
The man was struck while running southbound across eastbound lanes of West San Marcos Boulevard, underneath the state Route 78 overpass, about 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, according to San Diego County sheriff's Deputy Tammy Bennetts.
Paramedics took the injured man to Palomar Medical Center, where he later died, Bennetts said.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian and several other witnesses stopped to help him, the deputy said, noting that no criminal charges were pending.
