This week, hot weather inland will bring temperatures close to 90F in places like Ramona, Tierrasanta, Poway, Eastlake, etc., although there should be a nice marine influence along the coastline where it will still be in the mid 70s (PERFECT for walking). One of the things I had forgotten about since last year's training was walking on Tuesdays.
Tuesdays in San Diego, well, Tuesdays are "trash" days. When the trash is picked up, that is. Your community or your location where you walk may have a different day than Tuesday, but the effect is still the same. This week, we've got some high pressure that should really heat things up. . .and that makes for an interesting Tuesday for me.
Throughout the course of my 5-mile walk this week, trash cans will be on the side of the road. Now I don't know when you do YOUR training walk during the week, and if I had my choice it would be very very early in the morning (while it's still cool and the sun is coming up). But since I work until midnight each weeknight, I don't get out until later. . .sometimes after the trash is picked up.
And here is the wild part of the walk. Those trash cans, when emptied, are still filthy. The June sun heats them up nicely, and makes them quite. . .well. . .aromatic. It probably wouldn't be so bad if there was one block (or even one MILE) of these plastic snifters along the way, but when they're out there for the smelling the whole walk, it's an interesting Tuesday. A -VERY- interesting Tuesday.
