San Diego woman is the voice behind hundreds of video games

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - You may not have heard of her, but if you've ever played any popular video games, you've certainly heard her voice. A San Diego woman makes her living speaking for hundreds of video game characters.

From video games like "Diablo" and "Soulcaliber" to "World of Warcraft" and "Nancy Drew", San Diegan Lani Minella has voiced countless characters, and with seemingly boundless energy and creativity, has made a career pushing her vocal chords to their limit.

"I can be the little kid and be innocent.... 'if you want me to be innocent, that's cool'... But to be the big, bad and the ugly!! That is the most fun," Lani said.

While you may not recognize the face, you likely know the voice. Lani is behind the characters in more than 500 video games, from girl detective Nancy Drew to more ferocious creatures. The list and the characters seem endless.

It's a job that's much more physical than it sounds. Boasting a four-octave range, Minella's voice and talent are ageless.

Lani Minella has been lending her voice to video game characters since 1992, and also shares her talent by working as a voice coach and director. Minella also recently worked with local racing legend Jimmie Johnson, lending her talents to his upcoming video game called "Anything with an Engine", due out sometime this fall.
