CARLSBAD (CBS 8) – News 8's Marcella Lee was recognized Saturday for her work on Adopt 8.

She was honored by Soroptimist International's Oceanside-Carlsbad chapter with the Ruby Award given to "Women Helping Women and Girls."

Marcella was recognized for making a difference in the lives of foster children, and helping them find forever families in her weekly Adopt 8 segments. Soroptimist International also made a $500 donation to the charity of Marcella's choice, Miracle Babies, which supports families of premature babies being cared for in the neo-natal intensive care unit.

The banquet was held at the Sheraton Carlsbad, and her mom, Lucy, was able to be there with her.

Marcella was also recognized by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, the cities of Carlsbad and Oceanside, the State Legislature, and the U.S. Congress.
