LA MESA (CBS 8) - A swat standoff in La Mesa is over, after a parolee is taken into custody. The standoff started around 10:00 p.m. Tuesday in the 6100 block of Blain Place.

Officers were called to the home of 59-yea-old William Warnoch, after he allegedly threatened his wife and son and barricaded himself inside his house.

Police used flash bang grenades and finally got him to come out around 6 a.m. Wednesday where he was taken down with a taser.

"Well, we always want to see a peaceful ending that's why we take a bit longer time. We don't just storm into the house and that's why SWAT is a valuable asset to the department," explained Lieutenant David Bond with the La Mesa Police Department.

Warnoch faces numerous charges and police say his wife and son will be allowed back in the house, after they do a thorough sweep for weapons.
