ESCONDIDO (CNS) - A bicyclist fled Thursday after running down a 9-year-old pedestrian, breaking her leg, in a parking lot outside a North County liquor store.

The bicycle hit-and-run in the 1200 block of North Escondido Boulevard was reported about 1 p.m., according to police.

Medics took the injured girl to Palomar Medical Center.

Following the crash, the bicyclist pedaled off to the south, traffic Officer Scott Christensen said. The rider was described as a youth who appeared to be 13 to 15 years old, wearing a black T-shirt. He was on a black BMX-style bicycle.
