Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Government offices, courts, schools, libraries, banks and post offices will be closed Monday for Independence Day.

Trash collection will be pushed back one day for the city of San Diego, city of Chula Vista and Waste Management. The Miramar Landfill will be open with its normal hours.

Balboa Park will be open, as well as museums that are normally open on Mondays. The park's municipal buildings will be closed, however.

Recreation centers in the city of San Diego will be closed, but city pools will be open from noon to 3 p.m.

The Mission Trails Regional Park Visitors Center will be open, as will Chollas Lake, but the Tecolote Nature Center will be closed.

All county facilities will be closed, except for parks. Agua Caliente and Vallecito regional parks are closed for the summer anyway.

The Chula Vista Nature Center will be open, but all other public facilities in that South Bay city will be closed.

Metropolitan Transit System buses and trolleys will operate on a Sunday schedule, but express buses will not run. The exception is Express Bus 20, which will have a Sunday schedule.

The North County Transit District will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule, with a couple of exceptions: -- an additional Sprinter train will leave Escondido at 6:03 p.m. and depart Oceanside at 7:03 p.m.; and -- special BREEZE buses will leave the San Diego County Fair 30 minutes after the end of the fireworks show, but not after the concert. The buses will take passengers to every Coaster station.
