SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 21-year-old man and a 7-year-old girl were shot Friday in Emerald Hills in what appeared to be a gang-related attack, San Diego police said.

The victims were shot while walking in the 5500 block of Roswell Street, near 56th Street, shortly before 2 p.m., according to San Diego Police Officer Frank Cali. Police believed the shooting to be gang-related.

The two male suspects stood across the street from the victims when one drew a gun and opened fire, hitting the man in his arm and shoulder. A stray bullet struck the young female bystander in her leg, Cali said. Both victims were taken to hospitals to be treated for their injuries, which were not life-threatening.

The two suspects fled from the scene in a dark brown 4-door Ford sedan, Cali said. One suspect was described as a thin black man in his 20s, 5 feet 9 inches tall and wearing dark clothing. No description of the other suspect was available.
