SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Hayward police have told the family of a missing nursing student from San Diego that a suspect could soon be in custody.

Michelle Le, a Mount Carmel High graduate, has been missing for two months and was last seen on May 27 leaving Kaiser Permanente Hayward Medical Center.

"Through the continued investigation, the analysis of evidence and through interviews, I believe we will know the identity of the person/persons responsible for Michelle's disappearance sometime in the not too distant future," said Lt. R. Keener, Criminal Investigations Bureau Manager for the Hayward Police Department.

Le had told several classmates she was planning to meet up with a friend and then drive to Reno. However, she never made it, and her white Honda CRV was found a few blocks away from the hospital's garage where she had parked it.

Hayward police said forensic evidence from 26-year-old Le's car, video from the garage where she was last seen, and examination of her cell phone records have all led them to believe she was killed.
