One of three accused in USD bribery ring pleads guilty

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - One of three people accused in a USD bribery ring has pleaded guilty to his role in the case.

Former Morse High School football star David Gates is scheduled to be sentenced in late October. He took a plea on gambling charges.

The April indictment against the 10 defendants in the case also includes allegations of marijuana distribution and fixing college basketball games.

Former USD players Brandon Johnson and Brandon Dowdy, along with former USD assistant coach Thaddeus Brown, have been indicted as well.
