IMPERIAL BEACH (CBS 8) - A search is underway Wednesday for two armed robbers who tied up a gas station store clerk in Imperial Beach.

The robbery happened just before 11 p.m. in the 600 block of Highway 75 in Imperial Beach.

Two masked men stole money from the register and forced an employee to open the safe.

"No injuries, no shots were fired. The clerk was very scared but they didn't hurt him," said Michael Boevins with the Sheriff's Department.

The robbers took off with the money, leaving the clerk tied up in the store. A customer came in a short time later and freed him.

The suspects are described as African American in their 20's, standing about 5'7" to 5'8" and weighing 160 to 170 pounds. They were last seen wearing hoodies and baseball hats.
