San Diego 'Annie' dog finds permanent home

The terrier-mix who starred in a recent stage production of "Annie" was adopted Friday by a Fallbrook couple, according to the county Department of Animal Services.

CARLSBAD (CNS) - The terrier-mix who starred in a recent stage production of "Annie" was adopted Friday by a Fallbrook couple, according to the county Department of Animal Services.

"Mocha," a 5-year-old canine plucked out of a Bonita animal shelter by stagehands casting the role of Annie's pet for the show at Vista's Moonlight Theater, will live at the Fallbrook home of Richard and Susan Bigley.

Animal Services staff picked the Bigleys out of a field of applicants, and they met Mocha and took her home Friday.

"We're so glad that Mocha's found just the right family," said Dawn Danielson, the director of the department. "Every pet deserves a loving forever home, and we think Mocha's unique story helped remind people that animal shelters are full of affectionate and appealing animals."

Mocha's original family had to give her up earlier this year, and she was found in Vista by Rob and Alex Kuty, who were helping to put on the stage show. The Kutys took care of her until the show closed last week.

Danielson said hundreds of other animals are available for adoption at the county's three shelters.
