SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man who jumped off a boat in San Diego Bay drowned, a Harbor Police lieutenant said Sunday.
Witnesses said the man, believed in his 20s, jumped off a boat near the San Diego-Coronado Bridge about 6:20 p.m. Saturday and never surfaced, Harbor Police Lt. Kirk Nichols said.
A search was begun, and a diver found the man's body underwater about 40 minutes later, near the Coronado end of the bridge, he said.
He was declared dead at 7:22 p.m. by medics with San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, and his body was turned over to the Medical Examiner's Office.
