ESCONDIDO (CNS) - A man with five prior drunken-driving arrests -- along with being deported three times -- remained jailed Thursday in connection with a police pursuit and a crash that injured one person, police said.

Officers stopped a motorist on suspicion of drunken driving near Bear Valley Parkway and Suburban Hills about 9:15 p.m. Sunday, according to Escondido police Lt. Craig Carter. The driver fled as an officer contacted him.

Officers chased the suspect's vehicle, which hit two other vehicles, causing injury to one person, Carter said.

The suspect, identified by police as Juan Tello Flores, 25, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, drunken driving with prior convictions, felony hit-and-run, felony evading with injury, driving with a suspended license and resisting arrest, Carter said. Flores was booked into the Vista Detention Facility and an immigration hold was added to his charges.
