SANTEE (CNS) - A Santee woman awoke to the presence of an intruder in her home Friday, and a man and 16-year-old boy were arrested a short time later on suspicion of breaking into the residence, authorities said.
The woman screamed and fled her home in the 9100 block of Heatherdale Street when she saw the intruder coming through her closed bedroom door about 1:45 a.m., according to San Diego County sheriff's Sgt. Curt Goldberg.
Deputies responded and found the man and boy two streets away from the home, Goldberg said, noting that one of the suspects wasn't wearing any shoes.
Both had items stolen from the home and additional items, along with a pair of men's shoes, were found nearby, he said.
They were each arrested on suspicion of burglary.
Later in the morning, deputies learned several vehicles in the area were found to have been tampered with and items possibly stolen from them, Goldberg said. Authorities were investigating a possible connection.
