CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A fire destroyed a mobile classroom Tuesday outside a Chula Vista YMCA and investigators worked to determine the cause, the Chula Vista Fire Department said.

The blaze was reported at 4:42 a.m. in a 50-by-20 foot trailer, which was used for afterschool programs, near the YMCA at 1201 Paseo Magda, according to Chula Vista Deputy Fire Chief Jim Garcia.

Responding firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from the classroom, Garcia said.

Firefighters confined the blaze to the trailer and extinguished it in about 15 minutes, Garcia said.

Fire investigators considered the classroom a total loss and estimated the damage at $35,000, Garcia said. Investigators continued to work to determine the fire's cause.

No injuries were reported, Garcia said.
