SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A Hillcrest salon Tuesday became the third such establishment to be burglarized in a week, police said Tuesday.
A thief smashed a side window to gain entry to the hair salon in the 3900 block of Goldfinch Street just before 5 this morning, according to San Diego police Lt. Andra Brown. Investigators were unsure exactly what was taken, but said some items from inside the salon were found on the ground.
No suspect description was released.
A beauty supply store on Garnet Street in Pacific Beach was robbed about 6:30 a.m. Monday, Brown said.
The burglar pried open the front door and stole close to $2,000 worth of skin and hair care products, she said, adding that a man was seen leaving the store in a white Jeep Cherokee.
A salon in the 3500 block of Fifth Avenue was robbed of between $500 and $1,000 worth of products about 3:15 a.m. on Aug. 16, Brown said. The thief broke a front window to get inside and was seen leaving in a two-door charcoal-gray coupe, she said.
Brown said that while similar businesses have been targeted, police believe the burglaries do not involve the same suspects.
She said there were two similar cases earlier this year -- one of them at the same Hillcrest location.
