SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Two men tried to rob a 24-year-old man at gunpoint Thursday in University Heights but ran off empty-handed, San Diego police said.

The would-be robbers confronted a man waiting at a bus station in the vicinity of 30th Street and El Cajon Boulevard just after 5:20 a.m., said San Diego police Sgt. Ray Battrick. The pair told their intended victim to walk into an alley and empty his pockets.

Before the duo could take possession of the man's property, a car rolled by and the two men took off in different directions, Battrick said. The victim was not injured.

The suspects were both described as black males. One was about 5 feet 10, carried a silver semi automatic handgun and wore a black shirt, black pants and a bandana over his face. The second was about 5 feet 8 and wore black pants and a black shirt with a circular design on the back.
