SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 45-year-old man was robbed and beaten Thursday in Hillcrest.
The victim was walking in the 1100 block of Washington Street around 2:15 p.m. when a man on a bicycle came out of a nearby canyon, San Diego police Sgt. Ray Battrick said.
The man, who was armed with a knife, ordered the victim to give him money, police said.
When the victim refused, the suspect punched him, knocking him to the ground. The robber stole his wallet and fled on his bicycle into the canyon, Battrick said.
Battrick said the victim was treated at a hospital for minor injuries.
The suspect was described as Latino, about 30 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, with short black hair and wearing a brown shirt and blue sweat pants.
