Friday afternoon: No flight delays due to Hurricane Irene

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - No flights to or from Lindbergh Field were delayed or canceled as of mid-afternoon Friday due to the approach of Hurricane Irene on the East Coast, an airport spokeswoman said.

There were a couple of delays for flights along the West Coast corridor, said Katie Jones of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority.

Airlines urged passengers to check online flight status information before going to the airport. Travelers may also sign up for e-mail or cell phone text alerts.

The airlines implemented a travel waiver, effective over the next several days, allowing ticketed passengers to make changes to their itineraries without incurring added fees should such action be necessary.
