RAMONA (CNS) - A 100-acre brush fire that broke out near Ramona Monday afternoon briefly threatened structures, authorities said.

The blaze was reported about 3:05 p.m. in the vicinity of Wildcat Canyon and San Vicente roads, according to Cal Fire spokeswoman Roxanne Provaznik.

About 100 firefighters from Cal Fire and Heartland Fire agencies fought to control the blaze using 10 engines, three helicopters, two airtankers and a bulldozer, Provaznik said.

The fire moved northeast, but its forward progress appeared to have slowed by 5 p.m., according to Cal Fire. No structural damage or injuries were reported.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation, Provaznik said.

Wildcat Canyon Road was closed between the Barona Casino and San Vicente Road, the California Highway Patrol reported.
