    The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for the coast of central and southern California, warning of strong rip currents and breakers that can top more than 11 feet.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Some of the biggest surf of the year is arriving on San Diego's shores this week.

The south swell originated 10 days ago off Antarctica, and some beaches could see waves larger than 11 feet Thursday.

In this News 8 video story, Doug Kolk reports from Ocean Beach, where surfers aren't letting shark fears stop them from enjoying the swell.
