Evacuation orders lifted in Cajon Pass wildfire

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - All evacuation orders are lifted in the Cajon Pass as firefighters continue battling a wildfire that broke out along Interstate 15 Saturday.

The Hill Fire started Friday afternoon on the center divider of I-15.  So far, it has burned 1100 acres.

It also shut down the freeway for hours trapping drivers on the main freeway linking Southern California and Las Vegas.

Some Cajon Pass residents refused to leave their homes unless absolutely necessary.

"I just couldn't bring myself to leave. My wife and I just moved out here about a year ago. And I just sent them to some friend's house. Got them safe and figured I'd kind of stay here with the water hose until I'd seen fire and if I'd actually seen fire," said one resident.

The Hill Fire is currently 60 percent contained. Full containment is expected Sunday night.
