OCEANSIDE (CNS) - Three teenage boys were in custody Thursday on suspicion of attempted murder following a brawl in Oceanside in which three other teenage boys were stabbed, police said.
Police were called to investigate a fight in the 900 block of Pier View Way Wednesday afternoon, according to Oceanside police Capt. Leonard Mata. They found a 17-year-old boy at the scene with at least one stab wound, he said.
Hours later, another 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy turned up at Tri-City Medical Center's emergency room with stab wounds. Mata said one of the injured boys was airlifted to a trauma center but all three were expected to survive.
Police arrested three male suspects in connection with the stabbings, ages 14, 15 and 17.
Two of the suspects were stopped by police as they fled the scene and the third was arrested at his home, Mata said.
At least one of the suspects is a documented gang member, according to the lieutenant.
The suspects' names were withheld because they are minors. They were each booked into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of attempted murder, Mata said.
Investigators believe at least some of the victims and suspects were involved in an argument earlier in the day, Mata said without elaboration.
